StanVac’s Trombay refinery ran short of a critical input that was not available in India previously. The company desperately turned to C.C. for help in four short days ‘Papa’ had developed the process for and produced enough of the chemical for StanVac’s requirement. In addition he charged no more than the regular import rates for the input, saying “Industry and business do not survive on profit alone. They need the goodwill of people more than profit.”
